Port Blair, July 5: The vessel MV Swaraj Dweep is expected to arrive at Port Blair on July 7 at 1200 hrs from Vizag. She has 672 passengers with 8 infants on board. On arrival, the vessel will be berthed at Haddo Wharf and passengers will be disembarked immediately.

The electricity consumer and general public have been informed that power supply will remain suspended at Bhatubasti complete, Laxmi Motor Area, Pathergudda, Satellite Colony & New Pahargaon on July 9 from 8 am to 2 pm in connection with the rectification of the defective Air Break Switches (ABS) installed at Prothrapur feeder.

Port Blair, July 4: The Tourism Department in collaboration with all line Departments and with all leading Tourism stakeholders of A & N Islands will be organizing “Monsoon Tourism Festival–2024” with the tagline #rhythmoftherains. The Festival will begin with a Road Show on 12th July, 2024 and the celebrations will continue on 13th & 14th July, 2024 at Corbyn’s Cove from 3 pm to 9 pm. The Monsoon Tourism Festival is organized every year in mid-July with the aim of promoting ‘Andaman’ as 365 days tourist destination for all.

Port Blair, July 4: Rear Admiral Biplab Hota, VSM assumed the role of Chief of Staff (COS), Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) on 01 Jul 2024 from Rear Admiral Sandeep S Sandhu, NM.

Rear Admiral Biplab Hota was commissioned into the Navy’s fighter stream. He has extensive accident-free flying hours on 23 types of aircraft. A distinguished test pilot, he was the induction crew of MiG 29K and subsequently commanded INAS 303.  He has flown from aircraft carriers INS Viraat, INS Vikramaditya, INS Vikrant and commanded INS Savitri and INS Teg.

Port Blair, July 4: In the night of July 1, 2024, acting on an specific intelligence received from a reliable source, a police team comprising Inspector Girish Kumar, SHO, PS Crime & Economic Offence (C&EO), SI Parvash, HC/K. Venkateshwar Rao, PC/N. Thangaraj and PC/K. Rajendran, PC/Amit Singh of PS C&EO led by Dy.SP (CID), conducted a raid at New Bimblitan near Periaswamy crusher. During the operation, the team seized 1.025 Kgs. of Ganja from the possession of one Tanmoy Roy S/o Shri. Hemendra Nath Roy (29) yrs, Pvt. Carpenter R/o New Bimblitan. He was promptly arrested on the spot following the due legal procedure as per the new criminal laws.
