Port Blair, June 15: The Second General Body Meeting was held today at Raj Niwas to review the action taken & status report of the proposed Deemed University under De-Novo category under the chairmanship of Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency in the presence of Shri Keshav Chandra, Chief Secretary and other senior officers of A & N Administration.

Port Blair, June 15: Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded to carry out the pre-school opening renovation/repair works on the school buildings, etc. during the summer vacation period with the help of elected representatives, SMCs, PTAs, service associations of teachers, etc. from the next academic session onwards.   In a letter sent to the Director of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee drew the attention of the Education Department to the dilapidated condition of a large number of school buildings in these islands.  Ayyappan told the Director of Education that during his visit to various outstations, people of the concerned area have urged him to take up the matter with the Education Department about the urgent need to carry out repair and renovation of the school buildings.

Port Blair, June 15: A two days Summer Camp for Divyangjan & their siblings being organized by the Composite Regional Centre- A& N Islands under the Administrative Control of NIEPMD Chennai, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in association with Pankh NGO and Chinmaya Mission got underway today at its premises at Brookshabad. The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS as the chief guest.
