Port Blair, June 20: The 9th edition of International Day of Yoga (IDY) will be celebrated in A&N Islands too tomorrow (June 21). This year’s celebration will be based on the theme ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. The main programme would be the Mass Yoga Demonstrations by following the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) of Govt. of India at the State, District, Block and Panchayat levels. The IDY observance is based on a harmonious mass yoga demonstration of a custom made 45 minutes protocol namely, Common Yoga Protocol (CYP).

Yoga is a symbol of universal aspiration for attaining good health and well-being. Given the context of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the benefits offered by Yoga have become even more relevant for physical and mental well-being.

At the sole initiative of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21st June as the International Day of Yoga in December 2014. Since then, International Yoga Day is being observed globally with great enthusiasm and fervor.

Port Blair, June 20: Mr. M.A Sajid, State President, NSUI, A&N Islands along with a delegation of youths met the Secretary (Education), A&N Administration on Monday and brought his notice towards the PST and GTT posts lying vacant in the Education Department from a long period.

On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, I extend my warmest greetings to each and every Islander. I am thrilled to know that Yoga has gained immense popularity in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. 

Today, we come together to celebrate the incredible practice of yoga, a timeless gift of India to the World that unites mind, body, and soul.
