Port Blair, June 25: As part of the observance of ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ i.e. on 26th June, 2024, the Directorate of Social Welfare along with Pankh Andaman and Chinmaya Mission Youth Wing will be organizing a marathon event. The event will be held on 26th June, 2024, with the aim of raising awareness about the devastating effects of drug abuse and the urgent need to combat illicit trafficking. The registration of participants will start at 3.30 pm at Netaji Stadium Gate and the Marathon will begin at 4 pm from Netaji Stadium to Flag Point and conclude at Netaji Stadium.

Port Blair, June 25: Heavy to very heavy rain (07-20 cm) is likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman Islands on June 26. Squally weather with strong surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to be along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast. Sea condition is also likely to be rough to very rough. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast till morning of June 27.

Campbell Bay, June 24: On 20 June, the Indian Coast Guard Component of ANC demonstrated its commitment to maritime safety by swiftly responding to a distress call from the fishing boat Flobel (IND-AN-SA-MM-2117). The vessel, located 23 Nautical miles from Campbell Bay, reported flooding in its engine room.

Upon receiving the distress call, ICGS Rajkiran, on surveillance duty, immediately proceeded towards the distressed fishing boat at maximum speed. Despite challenging conditions, the Ship reached the location at 2050 hours on 20 June 2024.

Port Blair, June 25: The vessel MV Campbell Bay is expected to arrive at Port Blair via Campbell Bay & Nancowry on June 27 at 1400 hrs from Chennai. She has 314 passengers and 6 Infants on board with 35 MT Cargo. On arrival, the vessel will be berthed at Haddo Wharf and passengers will be disembarked immediately.

Port Blair, June 24: As first-of-its-kind initiative, the Andaman & Nicobar Police, in collaboration with the National Academy of Coastal Policing (NACP), Okha, Gujarat, has launched an intensive two-week coastal security training course. This program aims to strengthen the coastal defence capabilities of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, involving 311 newly enrolled police personnel.
