Port Blair, April 10: The newly constructed Residential Building of Child (Girls) Care Centre run under the aegis of Pranab Kanya Sangha, Port Blair has been inaugurated at a simple function organised on 08th April 2022 by Shri Suneel Anchipaka IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman as the Chief Guest.  The function was also graced by Sannyasini Jnananandamayee, Vice President, Pranab Kanya Sangha; Swami Prarthanananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Port Blair and Shraddhananda Saraswati, Resident Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Port Blair as Special Guests.

Port Blair, April 10: A&N Police while continuing its effort to curb the menace of Drunken Driving in the islands has further intensified checking through Special Enforcement Teams. These drives were commenced on 14th March 2022 and are still continuing. Several teams of local police & traffic police are jointly deployed on field at various places throughout the islands to check drunken driving.  As a result A&N Police has booked 456 persons in 26 days. The involved vehicles that were seized which includes commercial, public service and personal vehicles. The Original Driving License of the offenders is also suspended.

Port Blair, April 10: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Smti. Kavitha Udhaya Kumar along with Shri. Azizur Rahman, Sr. Vice Chairperson, and a team of Officials headed by Smti. S Asha (Executive Engineer (WW) visited various areas in the municipal limits. At first the team visited the Girl’s hostel compound of JNRM College. The team interacted with inmates, wherein issue of water supply were discussed. The Civic Chief directed the officials to short out the issue at the earliest.

Port Blair, April 10: The PS Pahargaon staff have cracked a theft case within 24 hours and recovered 04 mobile phones.

On 08/04/2022, a case vide FIR No. 65/22 dtd 08/04/2022 U/s 379/411 IPC was registered at PS Pahargaon and investigation was entrusted to ASI Peter Indwar of PS Pahargaon. The case was initially a blind case of theft of 01 mobile phone from an under construction building at Shiv Colony, Dollygunj.

Port Blair, April 10: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 234 incoming flight passengers yesterday, no positive case has been detected. Today, 18 flights with 3046 passengers arrived, out of which, 2714 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 251 passengers and the reports are awaited.  During RAT conducted on 36 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 32 passengers and no positive case has been detected. At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 7 passengers were tested with RAT, no positive case has been detected.
