Port Blair, Sept. 9: Miss V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Bambooflat today discussed about the non-functioning of Canteen at Chatham Jetty with the Chief Port Administrator, PMB. She apprised him about the difficulties faced by the commuters due to the closure of canteen since last 8 months. She also informed that as Chatham Jetty is the major transit point and thousands of passengers commute daily there is a need to make the canteen functional at the earliest.

Port Blair, Sept. 9:  The Ministry of Minority Affairs implements three Scholarships Schemes viz, Pre-Matric, Post-Matric and Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship schemes for the Minority as Central Sector Schemes through National Scholarship Portal (NSP) of the Government of India. The scholarships awarded under these schemes to the economically weaker and meritorious students from the six centrally notified minority communities vis. Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Muslim, Sikh and Zoroastrain (Parsi) pursuing students in Indian in a Government or recognized private university/Institute/College/School.

Port Blair, Sept. 9: The 7th Circle Conference of the BSNL Employees Union, Andaman & Nicobar Telecom Circle held recently at Port Blair has elected Shri M. Rajendran, Shri SP Kalairajan and Shri T. Abbas as President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively.  The Conference also elected five Vice Presidents, five Assistant Secretaries, 1 Asst. Treasurer and 7 Organising Secretaries to the Circle Executive Committee of the Union.  

Port Blair, Sept. 9: Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) South Andaman has been actively involved in imparting vocational training in South Andaman since October 2021. JSS South Andaman recently conducted various activities from 05th to 9th of September to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of their trainers.

Port Blair, Sept. 9: The Composite Regional Centre- A&N Island organized a two-days screening camp in collaboration with Social Welfare Deptt. and Education Deptt. recently at CRC- A&N Islands, Brookshabad and at Govt. SSS Wimberlygunj. Altogether 262 Divyangjans participated in the Screening Camp under ADIP Scheme.
