Port Blair, Oct. 6: Proud moments for the Islanders as A Chirag Kumar a class VII student of NCS Port Blair and Chittiboina Mageswari, a class VII student of GMSSS Port Blair have brought laurels to the A&N Islands by securing third position in the Unrated category & Under 12 Girls category respectively in the International FIDE Below 1600 Rated Chess Tournament held at Bhimavarm, West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh from 04.10.2022 to 06.04.2022.

Port Blair, Oct. 6: It was a Historic day for Andaman & Nicobar Chess as for the first time any President of All India Chess Federation (AICF) visited Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest, Dr. Sanjay Kapoor, President, All India Chess Federation (AICF) inaugurated the new Chess Centre cum office of Andaman Nicobar Chess Association at Dairy Farm, Port Blair on the auspicious occasion of Dusshera on 5th October 2022 amidst good number of players, parents, chess lovers and office bearers of ANCA.

Port Blair, Oct. 6: Working towards its commitment to make the A&N Islands drug-free, N&MA District Police is conducting regular raids. Swiftly acting on credible information on 04/10/2022, a team headed by Inspr. Stalin N.S, SHO PS Diglipur conducted a raid near a parking lot of CHC Diglipur and recovered 2.342 Kgs of illicit ganja from the possession of a person namely Ajit Kumar Tete (30y) resident of Sitanagar, Diglipur. Accordingly, illicit ganja was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all legal formalities and a case has been registered under relevant sections of NDPS Act at PS Diglipur.
