Workshop to Focus on Coastal Eco-Systems and its Vital Importance

Port Blair, Jan 6: The Zoological Survey of India is organizing two days online workshop on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity of island ecosystem sponsored by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.  ZSI/ANRC, Port Blair is playing an important role in knowledge-based capacity building program in marine ecosystem.   This workshop will focus understanding the role of coastal ecosystems and its vital importance in areas such as bio-diversity, food security, climate change and others.

Port Blair, Jan 6: A meeting of the District Task Force Committee for COVID -19 vaccination was held under the chairmanship of Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman along with Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, Medical Superintendent, GBPH, Nodal Officer, COVID, District Programme Manager, NRHM, NGOs and other officials of different departments. The progress of database on COVID-19 “Vaccination Beneficiary Management System” (VBMS) was reviewed.

Port Blair, Jan 6: The Science Exhibition “Imprints-2021” of Government Sr. Sec. School- School Line was inaugurated by Shri. Suneel Anchpaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District as the chief guest. The Chief Guest was accompanied by Shri. Lakshya Singhal, IAS (Prob.) and Smti. Anshu Singh, Tax Officer, District Office, South Andaman.

Port Blair, Jan 6: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief General Manager, BSNL, A&N Telecom Circle to resolve the connectivity problems of BSNL in the Tribal area of Car Nicobar and Nancowry Group of Islands etc. by erecting 4G towers. The MP also requested to ensure providing of better connectivity services connecting from OFC, which is underway through Kamorta and Campbell Bay, so as to facilitate peoples residing in the tribal area for availing e-Services.

Port Blair, Jan 6: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, A&N Islands responding to the grievances received from the Merchants Association, Diglipur, North Andaman has requested the Regional General Manager, SBI, Port Blair to address the problems being faced by them at the earliest for which the merchants of Diglipur are facing tremendous hardships while depositing their day to day cash transactions at the SBI counter, Diglipur due to improper arrangements of counters for the merchants/customers.
