Port Blair, April 25: Lt Gen Ajai Singh, PVSM, AVSM, the 16th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), will be relinquishing command on 30th April 2023, after a distinguished career spanning over four decades. As he prepares to bid farewell, the CINCAN expressed his gratitude to the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (Retd), and the UT Administration for their support and cooperation during his tenure at the ANC.

Port Blair, April 25: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, Andaman Nicobar Islands has deeply mourned the sad demise of Shri. R.V Reddy, age 75 years R/o Dignabad Port Blair, Senior Congress Party leader of Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee who passed away on 25.04.2023 at Chennai.

Port Blair, April 25: The students from various Higher Educational Institutions of A & N Islands were accorded a warm welcome by faculty in charge as well as the students on their arrival at NIT Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands team paired with Jharkhand for cultural and heritage exchange programme titled ‘Yuva Sangam’ under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharath (EBSB) reached Jharkhand today to take part in the 6 days event. 

Port Blair, April 25: The 4-day corner meetings and campaign by CPI (M) against curtailment of water, frequent power cut, price rise, etc. began on 24th April, 2023. Corner meetings were held at various parts of the Port Blair on 24th April, 2023. 

Addressing the corner meeting at Delanipur Junction, Shri D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee criticized the BJP-led central government and its Administration in the islands for the curtailment of water supply. He expressed apprehension that the Rutland Water Project has not been implemented in the manner it was evolved because of which water supply from Rutland is not available to meet the requirement of the Port Blair town and rural South Andaman. 

Port Blair, April 25: The Electricity Department in an appeal has informed the consumers of electricity that due to increase in ambient temperature, there has been a substantial increase in power demand which has created a shortage of power during evening peak hours from 5.30 pm to 11.30 pm in Port Blair and adjoining areas of South Andaman. All the consumers of Electricity Department have therefore been advised to use the available energy judiciously in view of shortage of power particularly during the evening peak hours.
