Port Blair, May 28: Continuing the Writ Petition W.P. No. 5324(W) of 2020, the Andaman and Nicobar Bar Association led by its President, Shri Mohammed Tabraiz had pointed out before the Hon’ble High Court of Calcutta, Circuit Bench at Port Blair that the undersea cable operating from Chennai is ready for operation in segment 1. i.e. Port Blair to Diglipur and Segment 2 i.e. Havelock, whereas segments 2, 3, 4 and 5 would require some time. Inspite of segments 1 and 6 being ready for operation, the islanders are being deprived of the facility when the islanders need the most, particularly for online classes of the students, operation of Video Conference in Courts and medical purpose.

Port Blair, May 28: Innumerable varieties of face masks ranging from cotton, jute, viscose, synthetics, N-95, 3 ply non-woven and even recycled innerwear are available in the market, as choice to the public to protect themselves from the corona virus. In addition to the face masks, a variety of hand sanitizers have come up in the market, which is assumed to be affective against the corona pandemic. While the Government of India has notified the use of face masks and advised the use of hand sanitizers, no proper specifications on the use is now posing potential health hazard to the public health.

Governor, A&N Islands and the State President of BJP, A&N Islands, the Ex-Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray has requested for institutional/ home quarantine of all passengers/ islanders returning to the islands by air and ships with proper testing of samples by RMRC.  

Senior Citizen Shows COVID-19 Symptoms after Reaching Neil Island

Port Blair, May 27: A senior citizen who had arrived at Port Blair on 25th May 2020 from Chennai has been showing COVID-19 symptoms soon after he reached Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) today afternoon. The senior citizen had been to Chennai as an attendant of a patient who needed a review after getting treated.
