Port Blair, May 18: Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO's) President Mr. Pronab Sarkar express his disappointment on tourism being totally ignored by the Government during relief announcements

After the press conference by the Finance Minister on 18th May 2020 about the relief package, Pronab Sarkar, President Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) expressed his disappointment on tourism being totally ignored in spite of the fact, our Hon’ble Prime Minister recognising the role of tourism in economic development of the country and mentioning tourism in all his speeches during his all foreign visits, mentioning tourism as one of 5 T’s during his first tenure, from the rampart of Red Fort and also tourism being included in the champion sectors.

Port Blair, May 18: Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chairman of Personnel, Public Grievances, Law & Justice Standing Committee of Parliament to take up the matter with the Government of India to consider issuance of order regarding absent period of Government Servants after completion of sanctioned leave deemed to be treated on duty in view of nationwide lockdown on COVID-19 pandemic.

Port Blair, May 18: Public bus transport was discontinued in the UT after the announcement of Lockdown from 25.03.2020 to contain the spread of COVID -19. Now in view of the relaxations announced by the Government of India in Lockdown 4.0 and subsequent notification issued by Andaman & Nicobar Administration vide O/o 500 and 501 dated 17.05.2020, the Transport Department has now decided to restart the public bus transport service in the South Andaman District. Adequate safety measures will be observed while operating the public bus transport service which will be strictly as per the following guidelines:

Port Blair, May 18: Elaborating the importance / requirement of 20 Lakh Crore Rupees package recently announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the State President, BJP, A&N Islands, Shri Ajoy Bairagi said that a campaign will be launched shortly by state unit of BJP – A & N Islands to create awareness on benefits of newly launched schemes/packages, without violating any norms and guidelines of COVID-19, prevailing in force. Bairagi was speaking to the media at a press conference called at the BJP Bhavan, Port Blair on 16th May 2020.

Lockdown 4.0 Guidelines Issued by the Centre to be Implemented in A&N Islands

Port Blair, May 17: The entire South Andaman District has now been classified as ‘Green Zone’ based on the parameters shared by MoHFW except the containment zone(s), which is to be notified by District Magistrate South Andaman from time to time.

The UT Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has therefore decided that the guidelines issued by the Centre for lockdown 4.0 will be applicable throughout the islands.
