Port Blair, Sept. 4: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,97,109 doses of vaccine have been administered to beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above so far. Similarly, 23,955 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years. 28, 393 beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have been administered both doses of vaccine. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 2,57,679.

Port Blair, Sept. 4: One COVID positive case has been detected today in A&N Islands. Today, 11 flights with 1795 passengers arrived, out of which, 1621 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 126 passengers and the reports are awaited.

During RAT conducted on 24 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 4 passengers were tested with RAT, no positive case has been detected. RAT was conducted on 15 passengers at Mohanpura Bus Terminus and no positive case has been detected.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: Acting on a specific intelligence from reliable sources, a Police team from Central Crime Station consisting of SI Parvash, HC/1713 K Venketeshwar Rao, PC/1143 Rajendran and PC/2079 G. Ravi intercepted two persons namely Sagar Shankar, S/o Santish Sarkar (26) and Kishor Roy, S/o Late Atul Roy (50) both R/o  Shantanu, Kadamtala, N&M Andaman at VSI Airport exit gate. The two had arrived Port Blair from Kolkata on 1st Sept. 2022 by Spice Jet. During the checking of their personal belongings, 2.075 Kgs of Ganja which was clandestinely concealed in the suitcase was seized and accused persons were arrested after observing all codal formalities.

Port Blair, Sept 2: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to reopen tourism in Wandoor and New Wandoor, which will open up employment opportunities for thousands of people and also give a much needed boost to Tourism industry of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Port Blair, Sept. 2: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded to extend the last date for submission of online application for Group C posts upto 10th September 2022 to enable the over-aged and now eligible candidates to submit their application through online.
