Port Blair, Nov. 23: The Central Crime Station in its continuous efforts and crackdown against illegal Narcotics in A&N Islands has arrested 04 drug peddlers in 03 different raids on the same day.

On 21/11/2020 a credible information was received by Inspr. Mahesh Kr. Yadav, SHO, PS Central Crime Station from an informer that one person namely Uttam Biswas R/o West Bengal will be arriving at Port Blair from Kolkata by private airlines and on the direction of Dy. SP (CID) a raiding team comprising Inspr. Mohd Elias, In-charge PS CCS, ASI Vijay Shankar, Constable Rajendran, Raja Rao, Mohd. Imran and P. K. Mondal was constituted and sent to VSI Airport, Lamba Line. The raiding team zeroed-in on the accused Uttam Biswas near parking of VSI Airport and recovered 13.620 Kgs Ganja from his possession.  Later on Smti Archana Gain was also arrested in the said matter.

Reformz Request Chief Secretary to Monitor Price Hike

Port Blair, Nov. 23: ‘Reformz’, an local NGO has raised the issue of uncontrolled price hike in vegetables and fruit trade apart from other food items like fish with the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration. In a letter to the Chief Secretary, the President of the NGO, Shri Arvind Rai Sharma apprised mentioned that while the A&N Administration has been doing good in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic in the islands, there are some issues which has gone unnoticed.

Port Blair, Nov. 23: The disposal of mixed waste at Dumping ground across the world is a major challenge for the environment due to the emission of toxic gases and fires.  

Hon’ble National Green Tribunal (NGT) is issuing directives/ orders from time to time, to overcome these issues by undertaking bio-remediation of dumping grounds and to adopt best suitable zero landfill activities/ methods as per the local area conditions & suitable technologies.

Port Blair, Nov. 23: The Non Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, A & N Islands has decided to organise various protest programmes on 26th November, 2020  in support of National strike called by central trade unions and Confederation of Central Govt. Employees and Workers, New Delhi. The central trade unions, employees’ organisations and farmers’ organisations have called for a nationwide 24-hour strike on 26th November to press their long pending demands and to protest anti-people policies of the Central Government. A meeting of central executive committee of the Association held at Crusade house, Port Blair on 21st of this month took the decision to support the national strike by organising programmes all over the territory jointly with Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU). At Port Blair the protest programme will be at Tiranga Park, Aberdeen Bazar.
