Port Blair, Feb 29: Revenue officials of South Andaman District have seized a truck with mini excavator, found carrying out illegal extraction and transportation of earth at Bimblitan village.
Similarly, an overloaded truck carrying extra quarry materials than permitted was also caught from Birchgunj area.

Port Blair, Feb 29: The District Administration, South Andaman ensuring zero tolerance towards encroachment on Govt. land, carried out encroachment eviction drives at various places in Ferrargunj Tehsil.
During the eviction drive, fresh encroachments done in the shape of plantation and fencing were removed at Wimberlygunj village and an area of 0.10 hects was restored back in the Govt. Khata. Similarly, forest encroachments were also removed in Chouldhari village and more than 2 hects land was restored.

Port Blair, Feb. 29: In view of the upcoming General Election to Lok Sabha – 2024, a joint inspection under the chairmanship of Returning Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Parliamentary Constituency, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS along with other officers of PBMC, Police Department, APWD, Electricity, BSNL, Fire service, Information & Publicity and election related officers was conducted yesterday to set up proposed Counting Centre at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Port Blair as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India for Counting Centres and security arrangements.

Port Blair, Feb. 29: A two days’ training on Navjaat Sishu Suraksha Karyakram (NSSK) was organized for the Nursing Officers (1st batch) on Feb. 27 & 28 in the Conference Hall, AYUSH Hospital, Port Blair. NSSK is a program aimed to train health personnel in basic newborn care and resuscitation. It has been launched to address care at birth of children i.e., prevention of hypothermia, prevention of infection, early initiation of breastfeeding and basic newborn resuscitation. Newborn care and resuscitation is an important starting point for any neonatal programme.
