Port Blair, April 23: On 15.04.2024, Sh. Subhajit Basu, Hon’ble Special Judge under POCSO Act, North & Middle Andaman District, Mayabunder delivered a significant judgment in the PS Kadamtala case FIR No. 16/2023 dated 22.05.2024, U/s 6 of POCSO Act, 2012, sentencing the accused Rupesh Beck to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The court's decision to impose a 10-year sentence of rigorous imprisonment on Rupesh Beck reflects the seriousness of the offense and serves as a strong warning against such unacceptable acts. It sends a clear message to society that those who commit crimes against children will be held accountable and faces severe consequences for their actions.

Port Blair, April 23: In pursuance of direction of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Mohanlal-Vs-Union of India and Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Rules (Seizure, Storage, Sampling and Disposal), 2022, Drug disposal for 102 case properties from various police stations was carried out from 16/04/2024 to 22/04/2024 in three occasions by the CID Unit under the supervision of the UT Level Drug Disposal Committee chaired by Smt Varsha Sharma (IPS), DIGP (L&O). The committee members included Sh. Rajeev Ranjan (IPS), SP (CID), Sh. Mohd. Irshad Haider, (IPS), SP(HQ), and Kumar Abhishek, DySP (CID) along with the Officers from the A&N Pollution Control Board, Envirocheck (for measuring emitting pollutants), and GB Pant Hospital.
