
Mayabunder, June 25: As part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA), North & Middle Andaman, in collaboration with various line departments, organized an awareness programme today at Hindi Baptist Church, Mayabunder.
Officials from IRCA welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in combating drug addiction and spreading awareness about the significance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Speakers highlighted the adverse health, social, and economic consequences of drug abuse and encouraged community participation in creating a healthier and safer environment.
The event witnessed the participation of around 80 people and aimed to create awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote a drug-free society. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Bhawani Chakraborty, Tehsildar, Mayabunder. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Smt. M. Suvida, Project Coordinator-cum-Vocational Counselor, IRCA, N&MA.
