Isles’ Athletes Shine at 9th Pencak Silat Federation Cup Championship at Leh Ladakh

Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 4: The Pencak Silat Association, Andaman & Nicobar Islands’ team of 5 dedicated athletes participated in the 9th Pencak Silat Federation Cup Championship held in NDS Indoor Stadium, Leh Ladakh from August 2nd to 4th, 2025. Despite the challenging and unfamiliar weather conditions, the athletes displayed remarkable determination and resilience, securing 1 silver and 2 bronze medals – an outstanding achievement for our island team.

Even those who did not reach the podium performed exceptionally well, narrowly missing victory in closely contested quarter-final bouts. This reflects not only their skill but also their fighting spirit.

The following players had participated in the Championship:

1. Angel Aleta: 39 – 43 Kgs: Silver

2. Rohan Rawat: Under 39kgs: Quarter Final

3. N. Buvaneshwari: 43 – 47 Kgs: Quarter Final

4. S. Rashi: 59 – 63 Kgs: Bronze

5. Sudiksha Das: 63 – 67 Kgs: Bronze

The Pencak Silat athletes have consistently brought pride to the Islands through their performances over the past year. This championship also serves as a crucial stepping stone toward the upcoming Asian Championship. The selected players will be updated by the federation soon.

Special recognition goes to our young trainer, Er. Logarjun M, whose dedicated coaching and mentorship played a vital role in preparing the athletes for this prestigious national-level event.
