Isles’ Chess Players Put Up Commendable Performance at PLAYU 2nd International Chess Tourney

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 15: Chess players from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands brought laurels to the Islands by putting up commendable performances at the PLAYU 2nd International Open Chess Tournament, held in Chennai from 10th to 14th September 2026.

Shrihaan Karmakar delivered an impressive performance, scoring 5.5 points out of 9 rounds. He secured and won 5th position in the 1601–1700 rating category, earning a cash prize of ₹3,000.

Another promising player, R. Siddharth, scored 4.5 points out of 9 rounds. He secured and achieved 2nd position in the 1401–1500 rating category, winning a cash prize of ₹6,000.

The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) congratulates both players for their strong performances and for bringing recognition to the Islands on the national and international chess platform.

ANCA wishes both players continued success and encourages more young chess talents from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands to participate in competitive tournaments and aim for greater achievements.
