
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 20: Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya today observed a solemn wreath laying ceremony in honor of Capt. Ashim Kumar Bhattacharjee, Sena Medal (Posthumous), one of the martyrs of A&N Islands. The commemoration was led by Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal, JNRM, along with the Associate NCC Officers (ANOs) of both NCC units, alumni, and close friends of Capt. Bhattacharjee. Teaching and non-teaching staff of the college also joined in paying heartfelt homage to the brave heart.
Floral tributes were offered at the memorial plaque, followed by a homage and the observance of two minutes of silence in sacred memory of the officer. The ceremony reflected the collective respect of the institution and community towards Capt. Bhattacharjee’s supreme sacrifice in the Uri sector of Jammu & Kashmir on July 20, 2000, at the young age of 24.
Speaking on the occasion, dignitaries emphasized that his valor and devotion to duty remain a guiding light for the youth of the islands. The event concluded with the essence to uphold his legacy by building a stronger, united, and secure India.
