Labour Department in Collaboration with EPFO Organises Sensitization Program on PM-VBRY at Swaraj Dweep

Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 3: The Labour Department, A&N Administration, in collaboration with the Regional Employees’ Provident Fund Office (EPFO), organized a sensitization program on the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) today at Swaraj Dweep. The programme was attended by over 30 prospective employers, aimed to raise awareness about the Government of India’s Rs. 1 lakh crore initiative to generate over 3.5 crore jobs nationwide from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2027.

Shri Vishakh O.T, Assistant Labour Commissioner, briefed the participants on the objectives and key features of the PM-VBRY, a landmark Rs.1 lakh crore initiative of the Government of India aimed at generating over 3.5 crore jobs across the country between August 1,2025, and July 31, 2027. He explained that the scheme will help achieve the Government’s Viksit Bharat @2047vision by promoting large-scale employment creation, particularly benefiting first-time job seekers. Key features of the PM-VBRY include:

Benefits for Employees: First-time workers registered with EPFO, earning up to Rs.1 lakh/month, will receive up to Rs.15,000 in two installments via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) after 6 and 12 months of continuous service, upon completing a Financial Literacy Course.

Benefits for Employers: Monthly incentives of Rs.1,000– Rs. 3,000 per new hire, based on wage brackets, for two years (four years for manufacturing). Employers with fewer than 50 employees must hire at least 2 new workers annually, while those with over 50 must hire at least 5.

Eligibility: Employees require Aadhaar-linked bank accounts, a Universal Account Number (UAN), and EPFO registration. Employers must be EPFO-registered and file monthly Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR).

Implementation: Managed by the Ministry of Labour & Employment and EPFO, with registration available via the PMVBRY portal (pmvbry.epfindia.gov.in) or UMANG app.

During the programme, Shri Vishakh O.T. urged employers to make full use of the scheme to expand employment opportunities and support economic growth. He also addressed participants’ queries and clarified procedural aspects. The session was also attended by Ms. Vijita Devi, Labour Inspector, Labour Department, and Ms. Nalini, Enforcement Officer, EPFO.
