Sri Vijaya Puram, June 23: The Legal Aid Services Clinic at Andaman Law College was formally inaugurated on June 21, marking a significant milestone in providing accessible legal aid and promoting legal literacy among the people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The inaugural session witnessed the participation of eminent members of the judiciary viz. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Supreme Court Judge & Executive Chairman, NALSA, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dipankar Datta, Supreme Court Judge & Patron – A&N SLSA, Hon’ble Mr. Justice T.S. Sivagnanam, Chief Justice, High Court at Calcutta & Patron-in-Chief, A&N SLSA, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, Judge, High Court at Calcutta & Executive Chairman, A&N SLSA, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jay Sengupta and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bivas Pattanayak, Judges of the High Court at Calcutta, presently holding Circuit Bench at Port Blair.
This initiative aims to provide hands-on legal assistance to citizens while involving law students in real-world legal aid practices under professional supervision.
