Swaraj Dweep, June 23: A significant session focusing on Drug Abuse, Suicide, the POCSO Act, and Mental Health Issues was held on June 20, 2025 at the Dolphin Conference Hall, A&N Islands. The session intended to raise awareness and initiate discussions on pressing social and legal issues affecting vulnerable people.
The session was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries viz. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court & Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dipankar Datta, Judge, Supreme Court & Patron– A&N State Legal Services Authority, Hon’ble Mr. Justice T.S. Sivagnanam, Chief Justice, High Court at Calcutta & Patron-in-Chief, A&N SLSA, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, Judge, High Court at Calcutta, Zonal Judge for A&N Islands & Executive Chairman, A&N SLSA.
The session emphasized collaborative approaches to mental health, protection of children under the POCSO Act, and the increasing threat of drug abuse and suicide in the region. The vote of thanks was delivered by Shri Bhawani Shanker Sharma, Registrar Admn-II, High Court at Calcutta.
