Member of Parliament Along with DC N&M Andaman Reviews Progress of Developmental Activities at Duke Nagar Village

Mayabunder, Oct. 27: The Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray along with the Deputy Commissioner and Additional District Magistrate, N&MA visited Duke Nagar Village to review the progress of developmental activities and interacted with the local residents.

During the visit, the Hon’ble Member of Parliament inspected the proposed site for the Lauki Nallah Bridge at Duke Nagar Village. The bridge, once completed, is expected to significantly improve connectivity and ease of movement for the residents of the area.

The Deputy Commissioner informed the public that set-apart of the land for the proposed bridge has already been done. The Hon’ble Member of Parliament also briefed the gathering about the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and encouraged the public to avail the benefits under the scheme.

As a measure of safety, the Deputy Commissioner handed over 20 life jackets and rope to the Ward Member of Duke Nagar for ensuring the safety of commuters using the existing bridge area until the completion of the new bridge, so that no more life is at stake.

Further, the public requested for an STS school bus facility for students up to Ram Mandir, Duke Nagar. The Deputy Commissioner assured that the matter will be examined and appropriate action will be taken shortly.

The general public also raised concerns regarding the water supply, to which the Deputy Commissioner assured that the ongoing work is in progress and is expected to be completed by the end of December 2025.

The District Administration reiterated its commitment to the continued welfare and development of the residents of North & Middle Andaman District.
