
New Delhi, April 7: Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble MP today met Shri Nitin Nabin, Hon’ble National President, BJP, at BJP Headquarters, New Delhi, following instructions from the PMO, New Delhi.
During the meeting, the Hon’ble MP presented a comprehensive charter of demands concerning the overall development of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for expeditious action by the Government. Key issues included implementation of domicile law, establishment of a Central University in place of a deemed university, enhancement of the UT budget under the capital head, addressing the prevailing health crisis, compensation for submerged lands to the farmers, financial support to PRIs, formulation of a policy for absorption/regularisation of DRM and contractual workers, constitution of an OBC Commission, fair compensation and rehabilitation for 363 affected farmers under the GNI Project at Campbell Bay, implementation of the 2024 General Election manifesto commitments, and regular conduct of HMA, LG’s Advisory, DISHA meetings etc.
After carefully going through the charter of demands, Shri Nitin Nabin assured that he would pursue and follow up to coordinate the matters with the concerned authorities for early consideration.
The Hon’ble MP also extended an invitation to the National President BJP to visit the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, which he graciously accepted and stated would be scheduled at an appropriate time.
