
Beodnabad, Nov. 30: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit–II of B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Pahargaon, Sri Vijaya Puram, conducted a Regular NSS Camp on 29th November 2025 at Beodnabad Village, Prothrapur Tehsil, South Andaman. A total of 33 NSS volunteers from B.Tech First Year participated enthusiastically in the programme, accompanied by Dr. E. Muthu Kumaran, NSS Programme Officer (Unit–II), Mr. Varun Kumar Reddy, Assistant Professor (Computer Science), Ms. Asha Devi, NSS Clerk, and Mr. Bhoominathan, NSS Clerk.
As part of the village development initiative, Beodnabad Village has been adopted by NSS Unit–II for the period 2025–2027 to conduct regular and special camp activities. A community meeting was organized in the village community hall, where the volunteers were addressed by Shri Paramashivam, Pradhan of Beodnabad Village, and Shri Bhoominathan, Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, who appreciated the involvement of the NSS and highlighted the importance of youth participation in rural development, cleanliness, education, and community welfare.
During the session, the NSS Programme Officer, Dr. E. Muthu Kumaran briefed the volunteers about various social service activities planned for the next two years, including cyber security awareness, beach cleaning, solid waste management awareness, awareness on government schemes, promotion of solar energy usage, sea cage fishing awareness, e-waste management, information on insurance schemes, veterinary schemes, digital literacy programmes, educational support for village students, health and hygiene awareness, and disaster preparedness programmes.
As part of the day’s activity, the volunteers conducted a beach cleaning drive at the nearby coastal area of Beodnabad, where they removed plastic waste, segregated garbage, and promoted awareness about the hazards of plastic and the importance of maintaining a clean coastal environment.
The camp successfully strengthened the bond between DBRAIT and the Beodnabad community, enhanced the social awareness and leadership qualities of the volunteers, and laid a strong foundation for continuous service activities to be carried out from 2025 to 2027.
Overall, the NSS Regular Camp was productive and impactful, reflecting the true spirit of “Not Me, But You,” and NSS Unit–II looks forward to implementing more meaningful initiatives for the holistic development of Beodnabad Village.
