Sri Vijaya Puram, May 28: A preparatory meeting of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) was held under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, today in the Conference Hall of Secretariat, Sri Vijaya Puram which was attended by Officers from Agriculture Department, Allied Departments and ICAR-CIARI.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasized that the VKSA campaign must clearly communicate the various schemes and facilities available to farmers. It should provide specific details of benefits accessible under ongoing schemes.
On the World Environment Day in line with the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, all Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Kisan Camps, Government Offices, Schools, and Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) are to take part in large-scale fruit tree plantation drives during the VKSA campaign. Necessary fruit planting materials may be obtained from Forest Department. The Chief Secretary directed that PRI members must take a leading role in all VKSA events. A standardized reporting format, Gram Panchayat-wise, should be developed. This must include the signature of the GP Secretary for authenticity and accountability. Structured feedback from PRI members, farmers, and other stakeholders must be systematically collected. Testimonials and suggestions received will be used for mid-course corrections and continuous improvement of the campaign. Documentation is to be treated as an essential component of the VKSA. All Departments must ensure thorough record-keeping, capturing best practices, challenges, and innovative approaches adopted during the Abhiyan. District-level officers from all relevant departments are encouraged to visit VKSA camps to offer support, encourage participation, and provide real-time feedback. Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Assistant Commissioners (ACs) must conduct periodic visits to the VKSA events in their respective jurisdictions and daily report of the events may be submitted by DCs/ACs. Separate press releases from each District Administration should be issued periodically to highlight VKSA activities, success stories, and local initiatives. A review on ongoing activities on VKSA will be taken by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration on 3rd June, 2025.
The National Level Pre-Kharif campaign titled ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ will be launched on 29th May, 2025, across all Zones in A&N Islands. At South Andaman Zone, the programme will be inaugurated with a flag-off of Rath- Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan ceremony by the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray at Chouldari village in South Andaman District.
