Hut Bay, April 16: The team of Police Station Hutbay has once again proved its mettle in the ongoing war against Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances resulting recovery of one packet of crystalline methamphetamine weighing 254.7 grams.
On 14/04/2026, credible information has been received by Inspector Pritam Behari, SHO, PS Hut Bay from HC Anoon Pradeep Toppo, In-Charge of OP Dugong Creek, stating that while on jungle patrolling duty along with HGVs Jhaj and Raja near the Pagla Mundi Forest area, they had observed a suspicious packet lying near the jungle seashore.
Acting swiftly on the information, a Police raiding team comprising of Inspector Pritam Behari, SHO, PS Hutbay along with ASI (SG)s Victor Dung Dung, M. Vinod Kumar, HC(SG) M. Sudarsana Rao, PCs K. Naresh, HG(V)s G. Shanti Krishna and Polliah was constituted. Further, Shri Ajoy Mandal, Tehsildar, Little Andaman (Executive Magistrate) along with two local PRIs namely Shri M. Joga Rao S/o Shri M. Appanna (57) Yrs, Ex-Pramukh Hut Bay, R/o Farm Tikery, Hut Bay and Shri S. Vijay Kumar, S/o Shri K.R. Shanmugam (43) Yrs, Up-Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Hut Bay, PRI representatives also joined the team. The raiding team proceeded to Dugong Creek and conducted a thorough jungle search.
During search, one transparent suspicious packet was found lying in the jungle seashore area covered with dry leaf. On testing with the Drug Detection Kit, the contents were found to be positive for Methamphetamine. The recovered contraband weighed 254.7 grams and the same was seized after observing all codal formalities. Accordingly, a case has been registered and investigation is in process.
The success was driven by the alertness and crucial role of HC Anoon Pradeep Toppo, In-Charge OP Dugong Creek along with HGVs Jhaj and Raja of the Onge tribe, whose vigilance led to detection of the suspicious packet and swift police action.
The entire operation took place under the command of Insp. Pritam Behari, SHO PS Hutbay under the guidance of Shri Deependra Kumar Singh, DANIPS, SDPO Swaraj Dweep.
