PS Ograbraj Cracks BSNL Theft Case Within a Day

Ograbraj, July 23: The staff of Police Station Ograbraj have demonstrated exceptional professionalism and efficiency in solving a theft case reported at the BSNL Telephone Exchange, Namunaghar, within 24 hours. Their prompt and coordinated efforts led to the arrest of two accused persons and the recovery of stolen property valued approximately Rs. 75,000.

On 17/07/2025, the Telecom Technician of BSNL reported that the server system had abruptly shut down at 0356 hrs. Upon inspection, he discovered that the main entrance and an internal wooden door of the exchange had been forcefully broken. Further, a Godrej Air conditioner unit (indoor and outdoor) along with an inverter and battery belonging to M/s Mehak Cable Network were found missing from the switch room.

Acting promptly, a dedicated team was swiftly constituted comprising of HCs S. Yamant Rao, Ashok Roy, PCs Abubacker Siddique, Jayanta Kumar Biswas, Bijender Gop, PC(D) Abdul Rahman along with the support of the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and Fingerprint teams. The team meticulously examined the crime scene, collected vital forensic evidence and reviewed CCTV footages of the surrounding areas. The team also gathered intelligence from the picketing staff deployed at PS Ograbraj junction. During checking, they identified a suspicious black Swift Dzire (Reg. No. AN01 J 7170) transporting an AC unit, allegedly heading towards Baratang. The team immediately traced the vehicle and summoned the owner for interrogation. Upon, interrogation the owner Kishori Lal, a resident of Teylerabad and his brother-in-law Divesh Ram admitted to their involvement in the theft. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized and all the stolen properties were recovered.

The entire operation was performed under the command of Insp. Stalin NS, SHO PS Ograbraj under the guidance of Shri Ajay Kumar Rai, DANIPS, SDPO Bambooflat and overall supervision of Shri Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
