
Diglipur, June 16: An awareness programme on fuel conservation and reducing the use of edible oil in daily cooking was organized by the Ram Krishna Gram Panchayat, Diglipur, on Saturday. Around 250 women from the Panchayat area participated in the programme.
The programme was attended by the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Panchayat Samiti Pramukh Shri Dipankar Mistry, former Pradhan Smti Seema Majhi and other dignitaries.
Welcoming the guests, Pradhan Shri Shyamal Bhowmick emphasized the importance of conserving fuel in view of the growing global energy challenges. Referring to the appeal made by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he urged people to adopt fuel-saving habits in their daily lives. He suggested reducing unnecessary vehicle use, sharing transport whenever possible and promoting responsible consumption of fuel.
Speaking on health and nutrition, Shri Bhowmick highlighted the need to reduce the use of edible oil in household cooking. He said that excessive consumption of oil can lead to various health problems, including obesity, heart ailments, high blood pressure and diabetes. He appealed to homemakers to adopt healthier cooking practices and encourage balanced food habits within their families.
The speakers noted that small lifestyle changes can bring significant benefits. Conserving fuel not only reduces household expenditure but also helps protect the environment by lowering pollution and conserving natural resources. Similarly, reducing the consumption of edible oil contributes to better health and helps prevent lifestyle-related diseases.
The programme concluded with all participants collectively singing the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. The participants appreciated the initiative and expressed their commitment to adopting fuel-saving measures and healthier cooking practices in their homes.
