Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 30: The President of the Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Shri Rangalal Halder, has drawn the attention of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, towards the serious difficulties being faced by the people of Hut Bay, Little Andaman, due to the prolonged absence of the Tehsildar and the shortage of Revenue Inspectors (RIs) and Patwaris in the Revenue Department.
In a representation addressed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Rangalal Halder stated that the Tehsildar at Hut Bay has remained absent for approximately the last five months. The continued absence of such an important administrative position has adversely affected the timely delivery of essential revenue-related services to the people of Little Andaman.
He further pointed out that there is also a shortage of Revenue Inspectors (RIs) and Patwaris in the Revenue Department. The inadequate manpower is reportedly causing delays in various important revenue matters, including land-related cases, issuance of certificates, maintenance and updating of land records, demarcation and other essential revenue services.
Shri Halder highlighted that residents of remote islands already face considerable difficulties in accessing government offices and services. Due to the shortage of officials and staff, ordinary citizens are often required to make repeated visits to government offices for routine matters, resulting in unnecessary loss of time, additional expenditure and inconvenience, particularly for people residing in remote areas of Little Andaman.
Shri Rangalal Halder expressed hope that the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor would consider the matter on priority and take appropriate steps to address the difficulties being faced by the residents of Little Andaman.
