Rangat Monsoon Marathon 2026 with the Theme ‘Run for Health, Unity, Environment’ Organised Successfully

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 4: The Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Middle Andaman, Rangat, in coordination with PRIs and line Departments, successfully organized the ‘Rangat Monsoon Marathon – 2026’ today at Nimbutala with the theme “Run for Health • Unity • Environment.”

The marathon was flagged off by Shri Deepanshu Vohra, Assistant Commissioner, Middle Andaman, Rangat, and Miss Sita Majhi, Pramukh, Rangat, in the presence of Shri R. Madhavan, Zilla Parishad Member, Nimbutala. PRI members, HoDs of various line departments, and general public were also present on the occasion.

The event was organized under two categories, namely Men’s and Women’s. The 10 Km Men’s Run commenced from Nimbutala Chowk -Kali Mandir – Amkunj – Chitrakut – Morice Dera, and returned to the finishing point at Nimbutala Chowk via the same route.

Similarly, the 5 Km Women’s Run commenced from Nimbutala Chowk-Kalimandir-Amkunj-Chitrakut and returned to the finishing point at Nimbutala Chowk via the same route.

The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from the general public and students, with a total of 195 participants in the Men’s category and 97 participants in the Women’s category, reflecting strong public support towards fitness, unity, and environmental awareness.

Cash prizes along with medals and certificates were awarded to the top three finishers in both categories as detailed below:

1st Prize – Rs.10,000/- + Trophy + Certificate

2nd Prize – Rs.7,000/- + Trophy + Certificate

3rd Prize – Rs.5,000/- + Trophy + Certificate

The winners of the Marathon are as follows:

Men’s Category

Mr. G. Ram, R/o Mayabunder – 1st Position

Mr. Asim Kujur, R/o Prothrapur, Sri Vijaya Puram – 2nd Position

Mr. M. Chandrasekhar, R/o Brijgunj, Sri Vijaya Puram – 3rd Position

Women’s Category 

Ms. Phool Kumari, R/o Padmanabhapuram – 1st Position

Kumari Amrika Das, R/o Diglipur – 2nd Position

Kumari Sanjana Bai, R/o Pathergudda, Sri Vijaya Puram – 3rd Position

In addition, consolation prizes in the form of cash awards and medals were distributed to 10 participants in each category in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and sporting spirit.

The event concluded successfully with the active cooperation and support from PRIs, line Departments, volunteers, and local residents. The marathon effectively conveyed the message of health, unity, fitness, and environmental consciousness among the people of Middle Andaman.
