Children Celebrate Tamil Language and Culture at Diglipur Valedictory Function

Diglipur, July 5: Tamizhar Sangam, Diglipur, successfully concluded its two-month Tamil Language Training Programme, specially organized for school-going children during the summer vacation, with a grand valedictory function held on Sunday.

The programme was aimed at improving Tamil language proficiency among young learners while fostering awareness of the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of the Tamil community. Significantly, apart from Tamil-speaking students, a few children from non-Tamil families also participated in the classes, reflecting the spirit of cultural harmony and mutual respect that characterises the Islands.

The valedictory function was attended by distinguished guests, parents, teachers and members of the Tamil community.

Welcoming the gathering, the Secretary of Tamizhar Sangam, Mr. K. V. Raj, stressed the importance of preserving the Tamil language and encouraging children to remain connected with their mother tongue and cultural traditions.

The programme was presided over by Shri P. R. Singaram, Pradhan of Subhashgram Gram Panchayat, who appreciated the initiative of Tamizhar Sangam in imparting Tamil language education to school children. He said such programmes not only strengthen language skills but also inspire the younger generation to take pride in their cultural roots.

Around 40 Students who successfully completed the training programme were felicitated with prizes in recognition of their dedication and regular participation. The Tamil Sangam also honoured Smti A. Annapoorani for her sincere efforts in conducting the two-month training programme and guiding the students throughout the course.

The enthusiastic participation of parents and members of the Tamil community added to the success of the event. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. A. Jayaraj, President of Tamizhar Sangam, Diglipur, who expressed gratitude to the guests, teachers, volunteers, parents and students for their wholehearted support.

The programme was meticulously coordinated by Mr. A. Elanzhian, Treasurer of Tamizhar Sangam, whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event.

The function concluded with a renewed commitment by Tamizhar Sangam, Diglipur, to continue organising educational and cultural programmes for children to promote the Tamil language and preserve its rich literary and cultural heritage for future generations.
