
Mayabunder, Sept. 14: As part of the ongoing anti-poaching operations in North & Middle Andaman District, a significant breakthrough has been achieved on 09/09/2025 when a suspicious Myanmarese dinghy was sighted near Landfall Island.
Acting swiftly, the Indian Coast Guard Ship Aruna Asaf Ali intercepted the vessel, leading to the immediate apprehension of 03 Myanmarese poachers. The remaining individuals managed to flee towards the shores of Landfall Island.
An anti-poaching team consisting of personnel of PS Diglipur and IRBn was mobilized to conduct a thorough search across Landfall and East Islands. Simultaneously, intelligence inputs were relayed to LOP East Island. Acting swiftly, the team apprehended 04 more Myanmarese poachers, after sustained jungle search. The operation showcased effective coordination and prompt response by the enforcement agencies.
The operation remains in progress, with search efforts intensified to locate and apprehend the remaining intruders attempting to evade capture. This coordinated initiative between the Andaman & Nicobar Command and the Andaman & Nicobar Police highlights the steadfast commitment of enforcement agencies to combat illegal poaching, safeguard the region’s rich marine biodiversity, and protect the fragile ecosystem of the North and Middle Andaman Islands.
