Sri Vijaya Puram, June 27: As part of the week-long Anti-Drug Programme organized by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education from 23rd June to 28th June, 2025, Day-5 was celebrated as ‘Movie Day’, focusing on harnessing students’ creativity to spread awareness against drug abuse.
On the occasion, students enthusiastically participated in Reels and Memes Making Competitions on the theme Anti-Drugs, conducted in both senior and junior categories. The event also featured a Rapping Competition, where students expressed their thoughts, concerns, and ideas about the menace of drugs in society through powerful lyrics and rhythms. These innovative platforms enabled the young participants to voice their commitment towards building a drug-free future.
The highlight of the day was an insightful and interactive session on ‘Movie Making’ conducted by Ms Samhita Acharya, Independent Filmmaker and Convenor of INTACH, Andaman and Nicobar Chapter. Her session inspired and guided the students on how to use film as a medium to highlight and work towards eradicating social evils like drug abuse from society. The session motivated students to take their creativity beyond competitions and use it as a tool for social change.
