The State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW), functioning under The Mission Shakti inDirectorate of Social Welfare, serves as a platform for promoting women’s welfare, protection and empowerment through convergence, coordination and capacity-building initiatives.
The State Hub works closely with various government departments, institutions and stakeholders to facilitate access to schemes and services available for women. The key services provided by SHEW include:
• Awareness generation on government schemes and entitlements for women andgirls.
• Facilitation of convergence among departments for effective implementation of women-centric programmes.
• Capacity building, training and skill enhancement programmes for women and frontline functionaries.
• Support for women’s economic empowerment through entrepreneurship promotion, livelihood opportunities, financial literacy, and market linkages.
• Advocacy and outreach activities for gender equality, women’s rights, and prevention of gender-based discrimination.
