Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 7: The State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) in collaboration with the One Stop Centre (OSC), Women Helpline (WHL) and Child Helpline (CHL) organized an awareness program at GSS Rabindra Bangla Vidyalaya for empowering teenagers with knowledge on mental health, rights and available support services.
Speaking at the event Smt. Meenal Rajan (Case Worker, OSC, South Andaman) gave information on the rights of women & children stating the importance of reporting any form of abuse or discrimination. Ms. Reshma Bano (Call Operator -WHL) and Ms. Mani Kumari (Call Operator – CHL) spoke about their 24×7 helpline services, explaining the assistance they provide during distress situations. Participants were encouraged to utilize these helplines for themselves or anyone in need.
During the program Dr. Nitu Sindhu (State Mission Coordinator, SHEW) delivered an insightful lecture on “Teenage Mental Health”, highlighting issues such as stress, anxiety, emotional wellbeing, signs of mental health concerns and the importance of seeking help.
