South Andaman District Police Cracks High-Value Theft Case of Mobile Phones in 48 Hours

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 28: In a remarkable display of professionalism, technical expertise and coordinated teamwork, the Anti-Burglary Squad of Police Station Pahargaon in coordination with the Anti-Burglary Squad of Police Station Aberdeen solved a high-value theft case within 48 hours, leading to arrest of four accused persons and recovery of the entire stolen property worth approximately ₹22–25 lakhs.

On 23/06/2026, PS Pahargaon received a complaint from Digital Zone, Bathubasti regarding theft of 16 high-end mobile phones, including premium iPhone and Vivo models, valued at around ₹22–25 lakhs. Upon this, a case was registered and an investigation team led by Inspector Sahil Shamsuddin SHO PS Pahargaon comprising of ASI Ajay Kumar Anand (IO), HCs Jairaj, Santosh Lal and Ramnag, PC/ S Gopi, HC(D) Majeed and HG(V) Samsad Ali was immediately constituted to trace the offenders and recover the stolen property.

During the investigation, the team meticulously analysed CCTV footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas, tracked the suspects movements, examined technical evidence and verified the records of recently released jail inmates and known habitual offenders. Working tirelessly round the clock, the investigators developed crucial leads.

Significant assistance was also provided by the Anti-Burglary Squad of PS Aberdeen, comprising HCs Sunil Singh Yadav, Mohd Rafiq and PC Jagdish Babu. Through detailed CCTV analysis and scientific examination of the suspects gait, body posture and facial features, the team successfully identified the principal accused despite his altered appearance.

Acting on the intelligence gathered, the joint police team conducted a series of coordinated raids and apprehended four (04) accused persons J. Suresh, Rajesh Kanna, Akram Ali, and Packiya Raj within 48 hours of the offence. All 16 stolen high-end mobile phones were recovered, ensuring complete recovery of the stolen property. Further investigation revealed that the theft was orchestrated in District Jail Prothrapur by Sheikh Murtaza, who is presently lodged in jail in connection with another criminal case.

The entire investigation conducted under the direction of Shri Deependra Kumar Singh, DANIPS SDPO(SA) and overall supervision of the undersigned.

General public is hereby requested to install CCTVs and ensure that they are working properly. Further, shopkeepers are encouraged to install shutter siren to dissuade such theft attempts. Further, it is also requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to Police at 100, 112, 03192-250525, 03192-236641. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
