
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 7: As part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushhaal Bharat” campaign, South Andaman Police conducted a series of anti-drug awareness programmes across the district to educate the public on the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage community participation in creating a drug-free society.
PS Aberdeen and PS Pahargaon organized awareness programmes at Junglighat, Ratna Market and Garacharma and Prothrapur respectively while OP R.K. Pur conducted similar programmes at R.K. Pur Vegetable Market and V.K. Pur Bazaar, sensitizing residents, shopkeepers, and youth on the physical, mental, social and legal consequences of drug abuse.
PS Chatham carried out anti-drug awareness programmes at Haddo, Chatham Bridge, Kali Maatha Mandir, and Buniyadabad Junction, educating participants on the ill effects of narcotic substances and the importance of supporting police efforts to curb drug-related offences.
PS Humfrygunj conducted awareness programmes at Manglutan Playground, while PS Ograbraj organized similar programmes at Chouldari Market and Ferrargunj Market, encouraging youth, drivers, and members of the public to adopt healthy lifestyles and promptly report drug-related activities.
PS Shaheed Dweep organized awareness programmes at Neil Kendra Market, sensitizing local residents about the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol and promoting the vision of a drug-free Shaheed Dweep.
On Swaraj Dweep, awareness programmes were conducted at Govind Nagar No. 3, Vijay Nagar No. 5, and Kala Pathar Village, where the public was educated about the dangers of drug abuse, its impact on families and society, and the importance of community vigilance in preventing narcotics-related offences.
Through these sustained awareness initiatives, South Andaman Police continues to strengthen police-public partnership in the fight against drug abuse.
