
Car Nicobar, July 7: As part of its continued efforts to curb the illegal manufacture, possession, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor, the Nicobar District Police conducted intensive excise enforcement operations across the district during the month of June 2026.
During the enforcement drive, a total of 10 Nos. Excise cases were registered throughout the district. The operations resulted in the seizure of 84.900 litres of illicit liquor. In addition, 4545 litres of lehan (fermented wash used in the manufacture of illicit liquor) were detected and destroyed on the spot, thereby preventing its misuse for illegal distillation.
These sustained enforcement actions reflect the commitment of the Nicobar District Police towards effective implementation of excise laws and ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of the public. Similar drives will continue to be conducted regularly across the district.
The general public is requested to cooperate with the police by reporting any information regarding the illegal manufacture, possession, transportation, sale, or storage of illicit liquor to the nearest Police Station, SHO, SDPO, or directly to the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District.
