28 Persons, Comprising of 17 School Students and 11 Civilians Injured

Diglipur, July 9: An unfortunate road accident involving an STS bus plying on the Diglipur–Paschimsagar route occurred today at around 2.45 PM near Kishorinagar. The bus, carrying 58 passengers which included school students and civilians, overturned, resulting in injuries to 28 persons, comprising 17 school students and 11 civilians.
Immediately upon receiving information, the District Administration, N&M Andaman launched rescue and relief operations. The injured were rushed to Primary Health Centre (PHC), Kishorinagar for immediate medical attention. The Assistant Commissioner/SDM, Diglipur, SDPO, Diglipur, and the medical team from Sub-District Hospital, Diglipur, promptly reached the accident site and supervised the rescue efforts.
After initial medical examination at PHC Kishorinagar, 14 students and all 11 injured civilians were referred to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Diglipur for further evaluation and treatment, while the remaining 3 students who suffered minor injuries were treated at PHC, Kishorinagar and discharged. As per the Chief Medical Officer, all 25 patients admitted to SDH are stable and are under continuous medical observation.
One 16-year-old male student has reported difficulty in swallowing following the injury and requires specialized ENT evaluation. Accordingly, he is being referred to G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram for further management. To facilitate his timely treatment, all arrangements has been made to airlift the patient from Diglipur tomorrow morning. All necessary and appropriate actions are being taken to ensure that the student receives the required specialised medical care without delay.
The Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur, visited the Sub-District Hospital, Diglipur, took stock of the health condition of the injured, interacted with the medical team, and directed that all necessary treatment and assistance be extended without delay. The CMO, SDH Diglipur has confirmed that all admitted 25 patients are stable.
Taking serious note of the incident, the Transport Department has placed the driver under suspension pending enquiry. A detailed investigation has also been initiated to ascertain the cause of the accident and fix responsibility.
The District Administration is closely monitoring the situation and is extending all necessary assistance to the injured and their families. Every effort is being made to ensure the best possible medical care and support to those affected.
