Sri Vijaya Puram, April 28: In continuation of the “Stop the Leakage, Save Water” campaign launched on 28th February, 2026, the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC) reaffirms its firm commitment to efficient water management and conservation. With the onset of summer and the consequent reduction in dam water levels, the need for judicious use of water has become increasingly critical to ensure a sustainable and equitable supply across all Wards. The ongoing campaign, focused on minimizing losses, promoting responsible consumption, and strengthening the distribution network, continues to be implemented on priority.
As part of these sustained efforts, SVPMC has successfully conserved 33,500 litres of water so far through systematic identification and timely rectification of leakages in the distribution system. Regular inspections, prompt repair of pipelines, valves, and fittings, along with close monitoring of overflow and leakage points, have significantly reduced water wastage and improved supply efficiency during this period of increased demand.
SVPMC emphasizes that water conservation cannot be achieved by the Administration alone, it requires active and collective participation from the public. Residents are urged to regularly check household plumbing systems, repair leaking taps and pipelines without delay, prevent overflow from overhead tanks, and adopt responsible water usage practices. Installation of float valves in overhead tanks is strongly recommended to curb avoidable wastage. Citizens may also report any leakage in the public supply to the SVPMC through dedicated Helpline number – 03192231179.
The Council further calls upon all citizens to become active partners in this effort by promptly reporting leakages, burst pipelines, or any misuse of water. Every drop saved today contributes to securing water availability for the entire community.
SVPMC remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding this vital resource and appeals to all residents to join hands in making water conservation a shared civic responsibility.
