Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 4: Consequent to the recommendation for setting up of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in A&N Islands, to cater for rapid upscaling of power requirements related to mega projects viz. International Container Transhipment Terminal, Green Field Airport, Deep Water Multipurpose ports, Power Plants, etc. team of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Scientists under Department of Atomic Energy India during their visit to the Islands from 4th to 8th September, 2026 for suitable site inspection in all the three districts of A&N Islands called on Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Lok Niwas. Team gave a presentation on the potential site and other relevant features of the proposed plan.
