Three Day Refresher Training Programme Organised for Officials Working Under UTATMA

Sri Vijaya Puram, June 18: A three-day online refresher training programme was organized from 16th  to 18th  June, 2025 for Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) functionaries, Assistant Technology Managers (ATMs) and Block Technology Managers (BTMs) working under UTATMA across all zones of the Union Territory on Farmer Oriented Activities for the month of June and July 2025 as per the approved State Extension Work Plan (SEWP) 2025–26.

The training was organized by the Department of Agriculture with the objective to enhance the knowledge and capacity of field-level extension functionaries in implementing farmer-centric initiatives more effectively.

In the first day, resource persons from the Department of Agriculture, delivered comprehensive sessions on Package of practices of Sapota Cultivation, Multi-tier cropping system & Integrated farming system, Preparation and usage of various Organic inputs & Promotion of non-perennial fruit cultivation like papaya and banana. These sessions were delivered by a team of experienced officers from the Department of Agriculture.

On the second day, the session was allotted for Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Service.  Dr. Sanjali Soreng, Senior Veterinary Officer enriched the participants with the topic Fodder Cultivation and Scientific Goat Rearing. In the afternoon session she delivered speech on conduct of Demonstration of Fodder & Azolla cultivation, Quail farming, value addition of Quail egg and meat demonstration.

The final day featured a dedicated session on fisheries and aquaculture, covering hygienic handling of fish, freshwater pond and nursery pond management, safety measures for fishers at sea, composite fish farming and introduction to mariculture. This session was facilitated by the officers and officials of Fisheries Department, Shri Nesnas E.A., AFDO, Shri Sanjeev Kr. Sutradhar, FI, Shri P. Ishwar Rao, AFDO, Shri Soumyadip Paul, AFDO, Ms. Jolly John, FI and Shri Sitanghsu Ghosh, AFDO.

The training conducted entirely through online mode, ensured maximum accessibility and participation. A total of 27 participants, including 22 ATMs and 5 BTMs attended the programme and benefited from the rich technical inputs shared by subject matter experts. A follow up field demonstration training for all the ATMA functionaries shall also be held by the Agriculture Department.
