Transport Department Inducts 5 Newly Purchased Busses into STS Fleet

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 27: As part of its ongoing efforts to modernize and expand public transport services across the Union Territory, the Transport Department today inducted five newly procured buses into the State Transport Service (STS) fleet. The buses were flagged off by Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, in the presence of senior officers of the Administration.

The newly flagged-off buses will be deployed in various STS Units of North & Middle Andaman to augment the existing fleet, improve connectivity, and provide safe, reliable and comfortable transportation facilities to the public. The induction of these new buses is aimed at replacing ageing vehicles and enhancing the operational efficiency of the State Transport Service, particularly in the rural and remote areas of North & Middle Andaman, where public transport plays a vital role in meeting the daily commuting needs of the people.

This initiative reflects the Administration’s continued efforts to provide efficient, dependable and passenger-friendly transport services to the residents of the Islands.
