Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 19: The Chairman of the Campaign Committee- ANTCC Shri. TSG Bhasker has officially raised concerns over serious discrepancies between the voters lists used for the Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) elections and the Member of Parliament (MP) elections across the Union Territory.
In a letter submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri. TSG. Bhasker highlighted that numerous voters who are registered in one electoral roll are inexplicably missing from another, despite residing in the same ward or locality.
“It has come to our notice that many voters listed under the PRI elections are missing from the MP election rolls in the same ward. This is a severe lapse in the voter registration system and must be addressed urgently,” Mr. Bhasker stated in the letter.
He cited specific examples, including areas like Burmachad and 20 Family in Diglipur Tehsil, where voters appear in the MP electoral roll but are missing from the PRI roll. Similar inconsistencies were observed in municipal areas, where names of voters listed in municipal elections are absent from the MP election voter list.
Shri. Bhasker has also expressed his willingness to provide documented evidence of such anomalies and has called upon the Election Office to take immediate corrective measures.
With the PRI elections scheduled for March 2027, the Shri. Bhasker emphasized the urgency of resolving the issue to protect the democratic rights of citizens.
Concluding the letter, Shri. Bhasker urged the Chief Electoral Officer to act swiftly to rectify the errors and ensure that no voter is disenfranchised due to administrative oversight.
