
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 16: The Union Territory Agriculture Technology Management Agency (UTATMA) Mayabunder in association with the Department of Agriculture conducted the first class of Farm School yesterday on Karen Paddy cultivation in the field of Naw Pricy, R/o Lucknow village under Mayabunder zone. About 30 farmers, farmers friend, Pradhan, Up-Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Rampur, Department officials, ATMA staff, attended the programme with full enthusiasm.
During the inaugural session, the participants were introduced to the objectives of the Farm school and the importance of conserving and promoting Karen Paddy cultivation in the A&N Islands. The session covered topics including the importance of Karen Paddy, selection of quality seed, land preparation, nursery management, practical field demonstration on seed treatment and the recommended package of practices for successful crop establishment. The Farm school will continue with a series of practical and field-based sessions throughout the crops season to strengthen farmers technical knowledge and promote climate –resilient rice cultivation.
