Sri Vijaya Puram, July 16: In a significant step towards ensuring availability of LPG in the remote Islands, filled domestic LPG cylinders were dispatched from Sri Vijaya Puram to Katchal Island yesterday through an Indian Navy vessel, with the coordinated efforts of the A&N Administration, A&N Command and Indian Navy.
The step was taken to address the immediate LPG requirement of the residents of Katchal Island. Due to the temporary unavailability of regular shipping arrangements, movement of LPG cylinders to the Island was affected. Considering the urgent requirement of the consumers and the challenges involved in transportation of LPG to remote Islands, the A&N Administration requested the support of the Indian Navy for facilitating transportation of filled LPG cylinders to Katchal Island.
With the support extended by the A&N Command, the filled domestic LPG cylinders were loaded and dispatched from Sri Vijaya Puram through an Indian Navy vessel. The consignment is expected to reach Katchal Island shortly, after which necessary arrangements will be made for distribution among the consumers.
The A&N Administration has been closely monitoring the LPG supply situation in the Islands and is taking all necessary measures to ensure timely availability of essential commodities, particularly in the remote and far-flung Islands.
The Administration appreciates the valuable support extended by the A&N Command and the Indian Navy in facilitating the transportation of LPG cylinders to Katchal Island.
