Women Helpline-181 Conducts Series of Awareness to Promote Awareness on Violence Against Women

Sri Vijaya Puram, July 7: The Women Helpline-181, functioning under the Directorate of Social Welfare, conducted a series of awareness programs during the month of May & June 2026 to promote awareness on violence against women and the service provided through Women Helpline-181, WCD Control Room.

The objective of mass awareness program was to disseminate information about services provided by Women Helpline. Further to promote awareness on Women’s Rights and on various issues affecting the safety, security and well-being of women and the role of functioning Women helpline number 181. The mass awareness programme were organized at various locations including SBI, RSETI, Mithakhari, Phoenix Bay, Bhatubasti, Calicut, Swaraj Dweep, Tushnabad, Mazar Pahad and Ograbraj.

During the programs, participant was sensitized on various issues including Domestic Violence, Sexual Harassment, Dowry Harassment, Cyber Crime against women, Personal Safety Measures, online fraud prevention, Government Schemes and Services of Women Helpline-181, Emergency / Non-Emergency and information seeking calls.

The Awareness sessions were facilitated by the Nodal Officer & Helpline Administrator (WHL-181) and the session were delivered by the Call Operators of Women Helpline. A total of 251 Participants attended the programs. The campaign was well received and successfully enhanced awareness among female stakeholders and the general public. Furthermore, the increased number of awareness program has encouraged more women to utilize the helpline, resulting in a significant year-on-year increase in both calls and case registration volumes.
