
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 5: State Bank of India Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBI RSETI), Sri Vijaya Puram, celebrated World Environment Day on June 05 2026 at its premises with great enthusiasm under the theme “Our Land, Our Future.” The programme was attended by SBI RSETI trainees and staff members.
The event was graced by Dr. K. Chandrashekaran, President of the Andaman & Nicobar Chamber of Commerce and Industries, as the Chief Guest.
Welcoming the gathering, Shri C. Raj, Director, SBI RSETI, Sri Vijaya Puram, highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and emphasized the collective responsibility of protecting natural resources for the well-being of future generations. He encouraged all participants to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives and contribute towards building a sustainable future.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. K. Chandrashekaran emphasized that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are blessed with rich natural forest cover, which contributes significantly to maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He stated that safeguarding the environment is a shared responsibility and that even small individual actions can collectively make a substantial impact on environmental protection.
He also appreciated the initiative of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” and encouraged everyone to actively participate in tree plantation activities. He noted that such initiatives strengthen environmental conservation efforts while fostering a deeper sense of responsibility towards nature.
As part of the celebration, fruit-bearing saplings were planted by the Chief Guest in the premises of SBI, Mohanpura, symbolizing the commitment of SBI RSETI towards environmental sustainability and a greener future.
The programme concluded with a pledge by all participants to protect the environment and contribute towards creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable society.
