Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 7: Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre is organizing a one-week compulsory Training Course on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity of Island Ecosystem for the officers of Indian Forest Service (IFS) during 8th – 12th December 2025 sponsored by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. This training course will be attended by 24 senior level Indian Forest Service Officers (IFS) from various States & Union Territory (Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Manipur, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh)
The five days training course includes class rooms teaching modules; field visit and training to Swaraj Dweep (Rani Jhansi Marine National Park), Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Wandoor; Baratang (Mangrove ecosystem & Lime stone cave), Chidiyatappu Biological Park, besides hands on training on the intertidal marine biodiversity at Bumanella, South Andaman. The five-day training course will be inaugurated by Shri. G. Balachandran, IAS, Former Secretary, Government of India as a Chief Guest; besides Dr. R.S.C. Jayaraj, IFS, Former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, A & N Islands; Dr. Deepak Apte, Director, Advanced Research Centre (ARC), DES Pune University & Former Director, Bombay Natural History Society, Mumbai; Dr. S. Dinesh Kannan, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Department of Environment and Forests will be a Special Guests. The programme will be held in Sea Shell Coral Cove, Minnie Bay.
